The team at Sentura have decided to support two charities during 2020, with the hope of making this year’s fundraising the biggest and best year yet!

At the beginning of this year the team individually voted for 2 charities they wished the company to support. This was then short listed to around 5 charities and the team then chose the two they would like to support this year. The chosen charities are Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and our local Air Ambulance Service (Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland).

Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals and an international centre of excellence in child healthcare. GOSH receives 237,908 outpatient visits and 43,218 inpatient visits every year and is the largest paediatric centre in the UK for paediatric intensive care, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, paediatric cancer services including bone marrow transplants, nephrology and renal transplants, and children treated overseas in the International and Private Patient (IPP) wing.

Every day, 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive at Great Ormond Street Hospital. There is a unique opportunity to help GOSH transform the lives of these children by funding research in the key areas where they know they can make the greatest difference.

It costs £1,700 on average to fund just one mission of The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.  Serving a total of five counties - Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) and Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) -  WNDLR fly two local air ambulances services.  These two helicopters provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies over an area of 3,850 square miles. They cover many of the UK’s major road networks including the M1, M6, M69 and M42. With an average response of just 13 minutes, between them they attend on average six missions a day.
