It is with great pleasure and excitement that we can finally announce that the Firechief® Academy podcast series, ‘Burning Issues’, is now available to stream and download on YouTube and Spotify!
Join our Senior Technical Consultant, Matt Humby, and some brilliant guests as they discuss topics, news and developments from around the world of fire safety.
In the first mini-series of Burning Issues podcasts, Matt and his guests – Graeme Warnell, Nick Tilley and Laura White – talk about Lithium-ion battery fires and how different sectors are affected by not only the fires themselves but the risks and after-effects.
Presenter Matt had this to say at the launch of the new podcast: "Following on from the success of the Firechief® Academy the next perfect fit was the Burning Issues podcast, which we were keen to get up and running. We managed to get this from concept to launch within 6 months and with the first three guests all speaking about Lithium-ion battery risks from different sectors (risk assessment, Insurance, and Legal), it seemed a perfect fit. All three of our guests in the first season are experts in their respective fields and provided fantastic, interesting insights.
"We are already working on seasons 2 and 3", Matt added. "Each will focus on different fire subjects so it won't just be Lithium-ion battery risks. We also have some really exciting plans for the Academy with extra resources which will become clear very soon."
Episode 1: The importance of Lithium-ion battery risk assessment
The first episode, which is available on the Firechief® YouTube channel and also on Spotify, features an insightful conversation between Matt and experienced risk assessor, Graeme Warnell of EV-EXbox.
Still to come in season one of the Burning Issues podcast
The three-part series will launch throughout January, at 9 am each Tuesday, allowing listeners to digest each episode and look forward to the next.
Nick Tilley – Property Technical Risk Manager at AXA – will join Matt for episode two, and Laura White from Pinsent Masons Solicitors is in the hot seat for episode three giving her thoughts on Lithium-ion battery fires from a legal perspective.
Exciting times for the Firechief Academy
As Matt mentioned, this is an exciting time for the Firechief Academy and there are still plenty of podcasts, CPD-accredited training courses and more to come in 2025.
Alison Tully, Academy & Events Manager, said "We believe education and awareness are vital in fire safety. Over the last 12 months, the Firechief Academy has been running CPD-accredited training courses to educate health and fire safety personnel to give them the knowledge they need. We realised there was an opportunity to get fire safety information out on a different medium and podcasts seemed like a natural fit to give us a bigger reach. We're proud to share our expertise and help deliver our mission of making the world a safer place, and this new podcast series is just one way in which we will be looking to achieve this in the coming months."
