We've been supplying fire extinguishers and accessories to installers across the UK since 1963, backed by next day service and stock they can count on. That history is why we're pleased to share that we've joined the British Fire Consortium (BFC), the UK trade body for the fire safety industry.
Who are the British Fire Consortium?
The BFC has been running since 1983, led by a volunteer board from within the industry. It brings together companies working across fire alarms, fire extinguishers and fire doors, with one clear purpose, helping member businesses raise their competence on the job. Membership is open to fire safety companies of any size, but it's smaller firms and independent technicians who tend to lean on the BFC's guidance and training the most, since they often have the least in-house support to fall back on.
Training comes first
Training is the BFC's main focus. Members can access five EAL Level 3 accredited courses covering fire alarms, fire extinguishers, fire door inspection, extinguisher refresher training and emergency lighting, taught in small groups with hands-on, practical sessions rather than classroom theory. As BFC Chairman Gary McDowall puts it, "By working together, we can raise standards and share knowledge."
That focus on training is why joining made sense for us. We've built our name on product and service since 1963, and the Firechief® Academy reflects the same belief. Training done properly is what turns a product into protection. An extinguisher, alarm or fire door only does its job if the person installing, servicing or specifying it has been trained to do theirs.
What this means going forward
Joining the BFC connects us to a wider network of fire safety professionals working toward the same goal, raising standards across the industry. We'll share more as the relationship develops, alongside our ongoing work through the Firechief® Academy.
Fire safety is complex. Getting the right protection, and the right training behind it, shouldn't be.
