Warehousing

Store rooms and warehouses are at a higher risk of fire due to the large quantity of flammable goods that may be stored with limited supervision. An added danger in a warehouse is that there are often large undivided areas and if fire starts it can spread uncontrollably. Other fire risks in this environment include processes using flammable substances; faulty electrical apparatus or machinery; faulty or unattended equipment in kitchenettes and tea rooms; carelessly discarded smoking materials coming into contact with flammable items; and tradesmen working on the premises using equipment capable of starting a fire, such as blow lamps, gas torches or angle grinders, etc.
