Cardiff Metropolitan University is one of the UK's top-rated institutions, and they were in need of a smart fire prevention system for one of their student accommodation blocks.
The high-end building in the heart of the Welsh capital was built less than ten years ago and comprises of more than 350-beds. In this case study we'll explain the issue faced by the University, and how the innovative, future-proofed Firechief Kitchen Stove Guard proved to be the answer.
What was the need?
The Fitzalan is a high-end student accommodation building located right in the heart of Cardiff.
It was created in 2017 when a series of one- and two-storey vertical extensions were added to the existing buildings to increase the size to a total of 357 beds.
The Fitzalan’s owners, McLaren Property, were in the process of selling when the new owner requested a full upgrade of all electrical installations and fire safety measures before completion. As all accommodation includes a fully kitted out kitchen with a combi microwave and hob, fire prevention was considered of particular importance.
What was the solution?
The Firechief Kitchen Stove Guard was fitted as standard in all 313 apartments.
